DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals)

DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) aims to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals thereby promoting their increased usage and impact. DOAJ offers free, full-text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals, covering all subjects and many languages. Flickr is a popular website for sharing images. But can you use anything you find here? No. Some Flickr users have chosen to allow their images to be used under a Creative Commons license - these licenses can allow for different types of use so you need to check the terms. Good news, checking the terms is easy, on the right hand side of the image page under the heading License the terms are listed. Librivox

Librivox refers to itself as "acoustical liberation of books in the public domain" and is a great site for free audio books. The Librivox catalog includes books in the public domain that have been recorded by volunteers. Librivox recordings are mp3 or ogg files and can be played directly from your computer or downloaded onto a device.

Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg offers public domain books for downloading. Project Gutenberg was founded by Michael Hart in 1971 to encourage the creation and distribution of e-books. Their catalogue contains of 33,000 titles.

TED Talks

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It began in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three words: Technology, Entertainment, Design. The scope has broadened. TEDTalks began as a simple attempt to share what happens at TED with the world. The Terms of Use state that it is a public service to promote the spread of good ideas and are encouraged to view and share with others both online and offline, please be respectful, please help spread TED and pleasure enjoy.
